5 Ways to Remove Unwanted Facial Hair

If you’re plagued by unwanted facial hair you know how embarrassing and troubling it can be. Some cases of unwanted facial hair are very slight, with a little blonde peach fuzz showing up in spots where most women don’t want hair. Other cases can be very extreme with women sprouting dark stubble like men. No matter how severe the case is, women who have unwanted facial hair want it removed!

There are several ways to remove unwanted facial hair, some of them obviously work better than others. We’ve come up with five of the most common ways to remove unwanted facial hair! We highly advise you to try a sample spot no matter what method you try before doing your whole face, just in case you have an adverse reaction.

Shaving Unwanted Facial Hair

While shaving unwanted facial hair is not recommended for women it’s an option that most women with this problem have opted for at least once. While a razor is typically close at hand, it can quickly and very visibly irritate the skin and only lasts for a short period. A woman with a 5:00 shadow is just as unattractive as one with a face full of unwanted hair.

Plucking Unwanted Facial Hair

Plucking is a good option for a lot of women who are plagued by just a few, random hairs. It’s especially useful for eyebrows and a couple errant chin hairs. Pulling the hair out by the root means that the hair will stay away for quite a long time, but plucking is not permanent and until the new hair grows out enough to be grabbed by the tweezer it might be a bit unsightly. Plucking can be very painful and irritating for some women and isn’t typically a good choice if there is a large area to cover.

Waxing Unwanted Facial Hair

Waxing gets varying reviews from women, while some people swear by it, others have bad reactions and have even suffered burns and scars from this hair removal technique. While there are home waxing kits, they’re best left for other body parts as the face is very sensitive. If you want to try waxing your unwanted facial hair, use a professional at a salon.

Chemical Removal of Unwanted Facial Hair

There are a number of chemical products available for hair removal. These depilatory creams destroy the hair not only on the surface but below the surface into the hair follicle. When depilatories work the best they last for a very long time, although they are not permanent. When depilatories fail it is typically because the user finds the harsh chemicals too strong for their sensitive facial skin.

Electrolysis of Unwanted Facial Hair

Electrolysis is the only “official” method of permanent hair removal and even that is not guaranteed 100% effectiveness. This method is preferred by a large number of women because after several treatments the results can be permanent or nearly permanent. However, there are sometimes complications with skin irritation and pain is not uncommon.

While all of these methods of unwanted hair removal have their plus sides and their downsides, the biggest determiner is how your face reacts to each method. You want something that makes you look and feel better about yourself, not something that hurts, is too expensive, or leaves scars.
