EndlessBeauty.com: How do you define success?
Josie: To me, success is feeling happy, feeling healthy, and feeling whole. It is going to bed at night feeling like I worked hard all day and it’s waking up in the morning with renewed purpose and drive to do it all again. Success is hearing from the women who use my products and how happy they’ve made them.

EndlessBeauty.com: What was the turning point that led to your success?
Josie: Having Josie Maran Cosmetics stocked in Sephora and receiving so much support from QVC has really added fuel to the JMC fire!

EndlessBeauty.com: What/who is your inspiration to succeed?
Josie: My daughter Rumi Joon is a big source of inspiration. It was perfect that I was pregnant around the same time I was developing the line because it definitely made me more aware of what I was putting inside my body and on my skin. It made me even more adamant about not using any products that contain parabens or synthetic fragrances. I'm extremely passionate and excited about being an entrepreneur and in turn that fuels and supports my love for being a mom.

Josie: Wanting to leave a legacy for my daughter that she could be proud of.

EndlessBeauty.com: What advice would you give to young women for succeeding?
Josie: Go for it! Make a business plan and find mentors who know the field you are interested in.

EndlessBeauty.com: How empowering is it to be on the other side of the cosmetics industry?
Josie: So empowering! I’ve learned so much about not only makeup and skin care but also science, chemistry, business, and entrepreneurship.

EndlessBeauty.com: As a former model, how do you think the modeling industry has changed? How do you think it will change in the future?
Josie: My hope for the modeling industry is that it will continue to expand to reflect the diversity of women all over the world, not just in terms of race and ethnicity, but in body size and shape as well.

EndlessBeauty.com: What motivated you to donate to cancer research?
Josie: Cancer has touched many people in my life and I always knew that it was a cause that I would support. I reached out to City of Hope because I had learned about their incredible treatment facility and program through family and friends who have personally had wonderful experiences there. It seemed like a natural partnership to me! I am so inspired by the strength and beauty of the City of Hope patients and I can only imagine the day to day challenges that some of the patients are faced with. If I can bring a little peace and beauty into their lives, that is motivation enough to continue donating!

Josie: Sometimes, just adding a little color to your cheeks and sparkle to your eyes can light up the goddess within and give her permission to glow!
