We’re all guilty of it. A stressful day at the office means a couple of cocktails with the crew after work. It happens in How I Met Your Mother all the time; they’re seldom seen together outside of the bar.
While you may feel like you're relieving stress and having some harmless fun, you could be putting your skin through a lot more than you think (if these sessions take place regularly). In the real world, alcohol isn’t so great for your skin, especially if you consume at least one drink daily, on average (for men, it’s 2).
Alcohol destroys the body’s supply of vitamin A, which serves as a defense against bacteria and other infections. Vitamin A is also used by your skin to replace old, dead cells with healthy new ones. A decrease in vitamin A will cause your skin’s cell-turnover rate to slow, leaving your skin in subpar shape.
Even though it’s often called “Asian Flush” because over one-third of Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans are affected, it’s not an exclusive club. When consuming alcohol causes your face to flush, the trigger is in your genetics (thanks, Mom!) and can affect any race.
Most people have enzymes that break down alcohol and its byproduct, acetaldehyde, as they consume it. Those who suffer from facial flushing are lacking specific enzymes in charge of breaking down the alcohol. Side effects? Nausea, dizziness, and vomiting. Flushing may also be an indicator of increased risk for throat cancer.
While rosacea is not the result of excessive drinking (contrary to popular belief!), it is definitely amplified by consuming alcohol. Having merely one alcoholic beverage a day is all it takes in some sufferers to cause a flare-up. In a survey conducted by the National Rosacea Society, 52 percent of 1,066 rosacea patients were affected by alcohol consumption. Their top alcoholic beverage culprits? Wine and beer.
Alcohol can shrink the face’s pores and make them more prone to clogging. The buildup of oils will cause acne, or possibly aggravate preexisting acne. Fermented alcohols are more acidic than distilled drinks, so especially avoid wine and beer if you don’t want to make your acne worse.
Drinking excessively causes major dehydration. If your skin isn’t properly hydrated, it will begin to wrinkle. Alcohol also prevents your body from absorbing key vitamins to keep your skin looking healthy and vibrant (such as vitamin A). Collagen, which is in charge of keeping your wrinkles at bay, is also eventually destroyed by alcohol.
According to a University of Maryland Medical Center study, excessive and repetitive consumption of alcohol increases the risks of capillaries bursting. If capillaries burst, more water enters the skin, which then leads to puffiness and eventual skin sagging.
Alcohol and its overall effects on your skin should not be taken lightly! While a drink or two here and there may not affect you, a habitual pattern of daily drinking is detrimental to your health--and beauty!

The range of possibilities here can result in great differences between wines, influencing the fermentation, finishing, and aging processes as well. Many wineries use growing and production methods that preserve or accentuate the aroma and taste influences of their unique terroir. Thanks.

The acidity of alcohols is also affected by the overall stability of the alkoxide ion. Electron-withdrawing groups attached to the carbon containing the hydroxyl group will serve to stabilize the alkoxide when formed, thus resulting in greater acidity. On the other hand, the presence of electron donating group will result in a less stable alkoxide ion formed. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this information. I really like your way of expressing the opinions and sharing the information. It is good to move as chance bring new things in life, paves the way for advancement, etc. But it is well known to everyone that moving to new location with bulk of goods is not an easy task to move or shift from one place to other place because I have experienced about that and I face the problem like that. There I go to village near to my city faced that problem there.

You need to be aware of the ill effects of all addictive substances. Drugs be it opium, marijuana, cocaine or something else, they destroy your health. In fact you would be alarmed to know that your brain also gets affected in the process. So be aware now. But drug addiction could be cured; a drug rehab center like www.drug-rehab.org will help you get rid of your problem.

Wrinkles are simply nothing as compared to other effects of alcohol. Not just alcohol, but drugs too are disastrous for your health. But addiction could be so different that is really surprising. For example, suboxone is used to cure addiction at suboxone treatment centers; but some people develop addiction to suboxone too.
I had no idea, that alcohol could be bad for acne too. If this is so bad for your health then, it is wise to stay away from it. Similarly drugs are fatal for your health. We keep reading about celebrities and their addiction problem leading them to drug rehab. So be aware and stay healthy.
Those who frequently consume alcohol should read this and learn about the effects. No woman would take such risks with her looks and health. But the awareness level in general is very low. My friend got addicted to drugs; after that she was admitted into a Florida holistic rehab center and received holistic treatment which helped her to a great extent to get healed.
More harm is caused by drugs. Your physical health as well as your mental health is ruined. There is no way you could do anything, except for checking into a drug rehab. In every city drug rehabs are available; in New York, there are New York rehabs, in Washington there are drug rehab centers Washington.
This post is sure to turn women against alcohol. After all women hate aging. Many women have addiction problem; if you know any one with this problem ask her to take admission in a specialized rehab like non 12 step rehab.
We often develop certain habits without knowing their consequences. Doing drugs or taking alcohol is something which hampers our health. So we should stay away from these habits. A drug addict needs the holistic drug treatment which is available at holistic rehabs.
I never even thought about how much alcohol can affect your skin. I'm glad I now know that it can dehydrate you and then that causes lines and wrinkles.
Our body is 75% water and it just makes sense that since alcohol dehydrates you, you'll see more of those fine lines and get puffiness under your eyes. "Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day" is commonly known because it's constantly being said to us and obviously for good reasons!
I think as we age, we forget we are becoming "older". Not only in our years, but or bodies as well. Alcohol does dehydrate every part of our bodies, not only our skin. We need to be very proactive to hydrate before, during & after we consume alcohol. We need to take our multi-vits, vitamin d (because none of get enough) and our vitamin A! Also, remember, there are 22 essential amino acids and we only get 17 from food. The others are branch chain amino acids, or BCAA's. BCAA's are the only Amono Acids that are metabolized directly into our skin & muscle tissues to help prevent breakdown of our tissue. Another thought that supplementing Enzymes may help anyone who does not have enough enzymes occurring naturally. Ok... I will stop now! Keep up the great work Endless Beauty!
How come men get a second glass of wine? I'm starting to see more men in the spas and dermatologist office...
