We received some exclusive photos from the event, which showcased the very first Skintimate Studios film winner's video.

I wanted to share the photos of these fabulous women, both of whom are role models for women everywhere, and, like the rest of us, grew up on Skintimate products!

In 2005, after winning Season 4 of American Idol, Carrie Underwood made her country music debut.  The musical beauty from Oklahoma has been non-stop ever since.  Carrie has released 3 hit records, won 2 Grammys, has been inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and even married a hunky hockey player from Canada.  What a whirlwind!

And as if that isn’t enough, just go ahead and add Carrie becoming the new face for Olay to that list.  It’s plain to see that this decision was a no-brainer. She’s sweet, beautiful, and extremely talented – who wouldn’t want her to endorse their products?  Olay is a brand I personally love and have used for years. If for some reason you haven’t tried any of their products, I highly recommend you put forth the effort.  Olay offers a fantastic line of skincare items in a price range you’re sure to love.

With the announcement, Carrie became the first “Celebrity Ambassador” for Olay products.  In exchange for her appearance in their “Challenge What’s Possible” campaign, Olay will sponsor the remainder of Carrie’s “Play On” tour.  I personally cannot wait to see her fresh face in the all the ads; I’m sure they will have fantastic background music as well!

Skincare products are the most common products used to combat aging amongst women. Women of the world fight their fine lines and wrinkles, but what about those tired and limp locks? Product companies have finally realized that the aging women of the world need to pay attention to their hair too, and have recently started making hair products to help combat the aging process.  Seem strange? Here are a few facts about the way your hair changes as you age:

  • Your hair changes color -- The dreaded gray hair! As you get older your hair produces less melanin, the pigment that gives your hair color.
  • Your hair thins -- Even if you’ve had thick hair before, your hair growth rate decreases with age.  Hair that is lost isn’t replaced as quickly and new hair doesn’t emerge as often as it did years before.
  • Your hair becomes dry -- Your hair consists of about 13% moisture and as you age it decreases.

Fight the good fight against aging hair by using products that address the changes.  Select a product that fits the needs of your hair type.  Tip: Make sure and check the label too!  Products that are sulfate-free are better at combating the signs of aging.  After all, our hair is our “crowning glory” and regardless of our age, we all still just want to be a princess!

In case you haven’t heard of Pur Cosmetics, let me give you the scoop!  Pur Cosmetics are natural and mineral cosmetics that are even free of animal cruelty.  In other words, they don’t test their products on little bunnies!

While the trends for Fall 2010 makeup lines are all dark and mysterious, you’ll be happy to know they’ve lightened the tone for fall. Pur Cosmetics decided to take a more natural approach.  The color collections they’ve introduced are lighter and appropriately named Earthy Pleasures (with warm bronzes) and Heavenly Delights (with angelic pinks).  This is one fall cosmetic collection you won’t want to miss!  Check them out at www.purminerals.com.

Why should you do yoga? It seems like exercises that are ‘the current craze’ rarely have staying power, but yoga has been around for over 5,000 years.  So what makes doing yoga so different than a trendy strip tease or step aerobics class?

Here’s a list of reasons why you should make the move and take a class, or you can even try it in the comfort of your home:

  • Reduces stress and tension
  • Increases Flexibility
  • Lowers fat
  • Promotes stimulation in the immune system
  • Creates muscle tone
  • Increases strength and stamina
  • Relieves tension

And if that isn’t appealing enough, consider the following health benefits that research has uncovered. Yoga can help with: arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, carpal tunnel, diabetes, heart disease, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis.

Did I mention that yoga isn’t an expensive way to exercise? You can pick up a yoga mat starting around $10 and the instructional DVD’s can be purchased for as little as $10 as well. Or, if you want to take classes in a studio they usually run anywhere from $5 to $15 a session.

Breakfast has long be acclaimed as the most important meal of the day, but if your mornings are anything like mine, grabbing a bite may be the last thing you have time for. With all the stress and rush associated with mornings, who has time to get up and cook a meal? Anyone with kids or a beauty regimen will say it’s something you often sacrifice. However, skipping breakfast could be effecting your day.  Here are a few quick ideas on how you can have a healthy breakfast, even when you’re in a hurry!

  • Cottage Cheese and Fruit:  Low-fat cottage cheese and fruit are a healthy pair!
  • Protein Plus: Milk with protein powder – strawberry is my favorite – blended with fruit or oatmeal. It’s a great way to shake up the day!
  • Yogurt, Granola, and Berries: Low-fat yogurt mixed with granola and berries -- make it yourself or buy it ready to mix in the dairy aisle at the grocery!
  • Almond Butter & Wheat Toast:  Almond butter is fantastic on just about anything and a lot healthier alternative to peanut butter.
  • Fresh Fruit Salad: Cut up some fresh fruits, such as apples, strawberries, and melon, and store them in a container overnight. Grab it out of the fridge and head for the office!

I hope you’ll find some of these suggestions helpful on those hectic mornings. Start your day off with a healthy meal and you, and your body, will be ready to face the day!
