When 3:00 o’clock rolls around do you feel as though you’ve hit a wall and either you take a nap at your desk or you’re going to have to have some caffeine or sugar. Did you know that there are some ways you can prevent beat the 3:00pm drowsy? Try these five tips to boost your energy in a healthier way and stay awake during the day.

Get up and move. Moving around and getting your blood flowing might be all you need to refresh your body and mind and keep you awake for the rest of the day.

Eat breakfast. People who eat a nutritious breakfast report less fatigue throughout the day. Just don’t grab a donut, go for an egg white omelet instead.

Stay hydrated. Keep drinking water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated. Even slight dehydration can be energy draining.

Eat nuts. Although a sugary snack may seem like the way to wake you up, you’ll do much better if you have a handful of nuts. The protein, magnesium and folic acid will wake you right up.

Get some sunshine. Try to make a point of getting outside, especially if the sun is shining and get a little vitamin D. If possible, take a walk and get your blood flowing too.

Travel in Style, Image Courtesy of henricodoctors.com

Traveling can wear you out and leaving you looking bedraggled when you reach your destination. If you want to look your best when you arrive, follow these tips and you’ll look and feel much better when traveling.

Bring a neck pillow. Sleeping on a trip will help you feel refreshed and looking alert, but sleeping with your head tilted to the side can lead to neck pain and strain, a neck pillow is a quick way to avoid that.

Dress in layers. Travel can go from sweltering hot to freezing cold, by dressing in layers you control your comfort level and avoid looking like a hot sweaty mess.

Drink fluids and moisturize. Travel can dehydrate you, especially plane travel, so remember to moisturize your skin and drink lots of water.

Freshen up your makeup. Don’t reapply the entire mess, unless you get a chance to remove your first attempt, just freshen up a little and don’t forget the lipstick. Never forget the lipstick.

Try to relax when you travel and you’ll feel better all around, that nap is a perfect way to do it and by staying as comfortable as possible you’re more apt to look and feel amazing when you arrive at your destination.

Fashion trends are finally changing from the boring and blah styles we’ve seen in the last few years and really going out on a limb. This could be the beginning of something exciting and new, or it could be a throwback to the ‘80s and in a decade we’ll look back and wonder what we were thinking.

So, how do you decide which fashion trends to try and which ones to leave behind? Well, being a little brave is necessary because you’ll be experimenting with color and style in ways we haven’t in more than 20 years. But once you’ve decided to be brave, you’re ready to go ahead with our suggestions for five fashion trends to try for 2012.

Colored Jeans

Colored jeans are really popular right now. If you are afraid of trying too much color, go for something blue based.

Color Blocking

Look for shirts and dresses that feature large squares, blocks or blobs of colors. When done correctly it can be very form flattering. Look for sexy sandals that feature two or three bold colors as well.

Contrasting Colors

While you probably normally wouldn’t mix orange and hot pink and purple, but this year it’s not only acceptable, its encouraged.

Big Jewelry

Jewelry is huge this season. Big rings, big necklaces, big earrings. They’re everywhere and they’re important parts of your wardrobe.

Big Handbag

The oversized purse is a really big trend for 2012. Be warned though, they will quickly fill up and won’t look quite as stylish then. Make sure you still weed through your purse regularly to get rid of excess baggage.

Closet Cleaning, Image Courtesy of containerstore.com

This spring I decided to try something different with my spring cleaning, I tried on every outfit in my closet and if it didn’t fit or feel awesome, out of the closet it went. Now, I couldn’t quite bear to part with three gigantic storage tubs of clothing, so I put it in the basement with the promise that if I lost weight by the end of the summer I could revisit my clothing. Added incentive to my new diet!

But I found some added benefits from my closet spring cleaning that were unexpected. Suddenly I had more room in my closet and my clothes weren’t as crowded, meaning they weren’t wrinkled when I pulled them out to wear.

I also became much more aware of the clothing I have and selecting an outfit for the day was not only easier but sort of exciting.

Removing clothes also gave me a chance to really see what I was holding on to and what I needed to improve upon. I realized that my bargain basement clothing purchased just because it was cheap wasn’t doing me any favors and just a few new pieces really added something interesting to my look and by buying better pieces that fit me well I felt much better about myself and the extra weight I’ve put on.

This spring, clean your closet and discover how much lighter and happier you feel about your wardrobe.

Rihanna at Battleship Red Carpet, Image Courtesy of justjared.com

Look out Hollywood, Rihanna may have just proven that she’s the dreaded triple threat. We all know she can sing and dance and now she’s hit the red carpet as an actress after Battleship hit the silver screen.

Whether the movie proves to be a success or not is still to be seen, but she looked absolutely stunning on the red carpet on May 10th as she stepped out in a beautiful white dress and gorgeous long dark locks.

Rihanna plays an American petty officer on the USS John Paul Jones and the movie itself is based on the board game. While we don’t often think of military gear as sexy, somehow on Rihanna it is, which may mean that the military look is not only going to stick around, but may get even more popular if this film proves to be a blockbuster.

Although, the military garb may have something to do with her ultra feminine white dress choice for the red carpet. Note, the very deep slit that earned Angelina Jolie a lot of jabs after the Oscars is proving to be a huge fashion statement, as predicted. Thankfully, the other women sporting this look have learned how to stand and expose just the right amount of leg.

For those that heard Rihanna was having health problems, she states that she was simply pushing herself too hard while trying to recover from the flu and was simply dehydrated. She’s feeling great now.

Boost Your Energy, Image Courtesy of health.kerals.com

If you’re looking for an energy boost halfway through the day and grab a candy bar or caffeine you might want to learn these energy tips that can keep you going in a healthier way.

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and if you’re lacking energy it could be because you skipped breakfast. Eat high fiber, high protein foods and avoid the sugary sweets and you’ll notice a change in your energy level throughout the day.

Drink more water. If you don’t come anywhere near drinking the recommended eight glasses of water a day you might need fluids. You lose fluid throughout the day whether you notice it or not, and one of the signs of dehydration is lack of energy.

Snack on nuts. Almonds and peanuts are high in protein, magnesium and folic acid, which can boost your energy in a very healthy way.

Exercise is a natural energy booster and when you do it regularly your body works more efficiently and will keep you energized. If you’re dragging during the day, try some quick exercises like walking around the office or doing some jumping jacks to wake up.
