We've all heard of the popular alternative to your regular fitness class, Zumba. There are an estimated 12 million people enrolled in the dance fitness class. But, there are things you should be aware of before jumping on the Zumba bandwagon.

According to the New York Times, here are some things you should know along with tips for taking Zumba classes:

  • Due to the high popularity of the class, many are overcrowded and taught by inexperienced instructors. Someone can be certified to teach basic Zumba after only a one-day training course! Make sure you ask about the instructor's experience before enrolling.
  • Injury is very common due to the high number of first time participants. Common injuries include: ankle sprains, muscle spasms, and hamstring and calf injuries.
  • Zumba, although fun, can be very strenuous. If you are pregnant or have a major health condition, it is probably not the best class for you. Consult a doctor first.
  • Wear proper shoes. Thinly soled sneakers are best, as opposed to running shoes, which are only designed for forward movement.
  • Make sure you have room to move. The ideal class size has no more than 25 participants, with two instructors.
  • Warm up before class starts and go at your own pace. Some Zumba classes do a warm up before starting, but some don't, so make sure you warm up on your own prior to prevent injury.

The lovely Kristen Stewart is gracing September’s cover of W magazine, and is also dishing on her role in the final Twilight saga flick, Breaking Dawn.

Check out the cover, and pictures in the issue, below:

On auditioning for Bella Swan, she told the mag:

“I just knew I wanted to work. And I did. I was working when I read the script for Twilight. I read the script before I read the book. I actually did the audition before reading the book, which was kind of crazy. Obviously, I tore all four books apart over the course of three years, but initially I had no idea that Twilight was such a big deal.”

On saying goodbye to the character:

“I’d been anticipating that end-of-Bella moment. I was going, Oh, my God—I wonder how I’m going to feel. And the last scene of the shoot was at the wedding. Every single character was there on set. At the end of that day, I was kind of whacked. And so I never really had that moment then. Instead, it happened later. We needed to film one more sort of honeymoon scene and we went to the Virgin Islands. After that scene, my true final scene, I felt like I could shoot up into the night sky and every pore of my body would shoot light. I felt lighter than I’ve ever felt in my life.”

We’re sad to see the Twilight saga end this year, but on a lighter note, she looks gorgeous in those photos!

A blood test can tell a baby’s gender at around seven weeks, a recent study has discovered.

According to the study, the test can detect fetal DNA in a mother’s blood and is 95 percent accurate at about seven weeks, which is more than a month before conventional tests.

Experts say that the analyzed study of more than 6,000 pregnancies showed a possible breakthrough when looking at certain diseases. However, there are concerns associated with the test. Dr. Lee Shulman, chief of clinical genetics at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, explained his concern:

"I would have a lot of difficulties offering such a test just for gender identification. Gender is not an abnormality. My concern is this is ultimately going to be available in malls or shopping centers, similar to companies offering "cute" prenatal ultrasound images."

The test is not widely offered by U.S. doctors. One company in California sells a test called 'Pink or Blue,' (pictured above) but refuses to sell the tests in China or India in fear of gender selection.

What do you think? Would you take a blood test to detect your baby's gender, or would you stick to the conventional way?

Dirty Dancing, the classic 1987 film we all love, is being remade by Lionsgate, the film studio has announced.

The film studio has asked Kenny Ortega, the choreographer of the original movie, to direct the movie. Ortega was very happy to take on the job, saying:

"The opportunity to direct Dirty Dancing is like returning home for me. Growing up in the '60s on the dance floor helped define me as a person and as an artist. I am looking forward to assembling a great creative team and an exciting cast to bring Dirty Dancing to the screen for a new generation.”

The writer and co-producer of the original is also in talks to be involved in the remake.

Actors to fill the shoes of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey have not yet been cast.

We’re very curious to see who the actors will be playing Swayze and Grey. They have some big shoes to fill!
