There are so many different products that claim to provide professional teeth whitening at home, but I've always wondered if they work. I personally had my doubts, but was curious to try out an at-home whitening kit — who doesn’t want whiter teeth, right?
I got the opportunity to try Plus White 5 Minute Speed Whitening System. The kit comes with a pre-wash rinse, whitening gel, and a whitening tray. The first step on the box advises you to mix a teaspoon of the pre-rinse with three teaspoons of lukewarm water, swish for two-three seconds, and rinse out. This step will make your teeth feel a little gritty, but don’t be alarmed, it’s supposed to — which is why they advise you to brush your teeth (without toothpaste) before applying the whitening gel and tray.
We have now come to the most important step — applying the gel to the whitening tray. The reason this step is so important is because I do not want you to make the same mistake that I did. The directions say to apply a small line of gel to the tray, and when they say small, they mean small. The first time I did not follow the advice and applied a thick line of the whitening gel, which oozed everywhere when I attempted to place the tray in my mouth, causing my tongue to burn and my mouth to foam. I removed the tray and tried again with a very small line, and it was a success!
I waited the recommended five minutes and then rinsed. The results were noticeable immediately and my teeth continued to become whiter after each use. I have now become a fan of at-home teeth whitening and I am sure after you try this product, you will too!
