Product Review: Pit Putty
2

Bubble and Bee Geranium Lime Pit Putty may not have the most lady-like name (pit putty?), but here's the good news: it works.

That's right, Bubble and Bee has come up with a stick-form deodorant that works! Now, it's not without its caveats. Mainly, that for it to work optimally, you have to rub it in. As in, stick your fingers in your smelly pit and rub. The upside? It deodorizes instantly. I mean, INSTANTLY.

My poor, unfortunate boyfriend actually said to me, "You need to get this natural thing under control. I can smell you from four feet away."

I ran upstairs, rubbed on some Pit Putty, and ran back to him. "Smell my armpit now!" I demanded. He obliged.

"Smells nice," he said.

Smells nice! I went from smelly to fresh in no time flat. I will put up with putting my fingers in my pits if that's the end result! Pit Putty's all-natural formula doesn't clog pores, irritate skin, or contain any chemicals ... the arrowroot powder is the magic ingredient that absorbs wetness naturally.

I did feel the need to reapply the Pit Putty, as it seemed to wear off throughout the day. It's better than the alternative, which is, as Allison put it while lamenting our inability to find a good deodorant: "full of chemicals and inflamed armpits."

Four, just four, Ingredients: Organic arrowroot powder, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic lemon essential oil, organic clove essential oil.

Product Review: Tom's of Maine Natural Deodorant
1

When Lyssa went chemical-free for a month, I learned a ton about the dangers of chemicals in beauty products. Then during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I discovered the long-term effects of aluminum in deodorant. So I made the decision to go natural with my deodorant. There aren't a ton of organic deodorants to choose from at the store (and I didn't want to wait to order online) so I went with Tom's of Maine Natural Deodorant

The brand is great because their products are chemical-free, natural, not tested on animals, made with recycled products ... everything I love about a beauty company's mission. However, as natural and aluminum-free as Tom's deodorant is, I quickly learned that it DOES NOT block B.O. I know this is gross, but from the time I put it on in the morning, until about 2:00pm, I had B.O. - and all I was doing was sitting at my desk! Could you image if I wanted to take a jog before work? Yikes.

I'm not done with my goal of finding an all-natural deodorant that actually blocks the B.O., I'm just not sticking with Tom's

Lafes Organic Deodorant product review
0

Lafes organic deodorant works better than any other "natural" deodorant I've tried! It works just like normal deodorant--roll on and go! I got "Active" flavor, because, well, I'm Active.

Lafes Deodorant

Lyssa using the roll-on Lafes deodorant pre-workout.

Lafes has been making deodorant since 1992. I think their secret is the combination of mineral salts, baking soda, and essential oils, because the first two elements are known to work and the third just makes the deodorant smell good! Well, I think so at least. We already know that I don't have one of the most sensitive noses in the Endless Beauty offices.

One thing I did learn while researching Lafes is that the "mineral salts" are actually "potassium alum," which is a form of aluminum. Part of the reason the salts are less toxic than their aluminum chlorohydrate, aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly or aluminum compound cousins is that they are used as deodorants, not antiperspirants. In other words, they don't stop you from sweating, just from smelling. For more, check out my latest blog post.

Another amazing thing about Lafes organic deodorants is that donate 1% of their entire profits to breast cancer prevention. We love it!
