Singer Lil’ Mama must have had Smashbox lip gloss in mind when she sang this lyric in her hit song, “What you know about me … is that my lip gloss is poppin’. My lip gloss is cool.” Because their Softbox Lip Gloss Collection is definitely poppin’! So what exactly does the collection contain? Well, it’s a set of six different travel size shades of soft and stunning lip glosses, either in a Lip Enhancing Gloss formula or a Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss formula -- both containing SPF 15 to help protect your luscious lips.

The color palate of this set is what first got me excited. The different shades of bronze, gold and champagne shimmer mixed with rosy, peachy and nude pinks, and even (for me at least) the risqué berry plum color are perfectly wearable for day-to-day or even for a night out on the town. And oddly enough, each color worked for both me, with my dark hair, green eyes and tan skin, as well as my sister who has blonde hair blue/green eyes and a more medium-fair skin tone. The versatility of the set is wonderful and there is a color to complement whatever outfit you have on!

The other great thing about the lip gloss collection is their quaint travel size. They are perfect to grab-and-go! Easy and convenient to have in your purse or in your clutch for a quick touch up no matter where you are. Even though you may or may not need the re-application -- depending on how long your day is. The glossy, sheen look tends to last quite a while compared to most other lip-glosses I have tried, but the color fades after a good while of wear.

The only negatives about these glosses are that they are a little stickier than I like my glosses to be, and a few of them aren’t flavored so they don’t have the best smell or taste if you happen to lick your lips, or somehow get it in your mouth. But despite these few little unfortunate qualities, I would still recommend this collection to anyone who is a lip gloss fanatic or just looking to try something new!

Lipstick Queen in Jean Queen

I'm an avid gloss user, but I normally stick with nude colors. Honestly, straying from anything but nude gloss is a huge change for me. That's why I was a little hesitant about trying Lipstick Queen's Jean Queen Gloss because of the pink color. However, according to the website, "This gorgeous natural pink gloss designed to perfectly offset denim and all your casual wear. Totally sticky-free and rich pigment for high impact coverage." After reading that, it made me want to at least give it a shot.

One thing I instantly liked was the squeezable factor that Jean Queen provided -- I could squeeze as much or as little gloss as I wanted onto my lips. I don't wear much denim (hardly ever, actually), but the color turned out nicely when it was paired with the black romper I was wearing

I can't believe it, but I love Jean Queen! My lips felt smooth and not the slightest bit sticky or heavy like with other glosses. The color wasn't too harsh or bright, and it really did bring out my natural color. Kind of like a twist on my classic love of nude, but only better!

I'm going to start wearing Lipstick Queen's Jean Queen daily (and hopefully I can find some denim to pair with it!), and I would definitely recommend it to all my friends.

Normally, I’m not a bubblegum pink, sparkly lip gloss kind of girl. But when we got some of Hard Candy’s new makeup in, I knew I just had to try it!

hard candy

The first thing I noticed about the sequin saturated shine lip gloss was the actual applicator itself. The applicator is HUGE compared to normal lip gloss applicators. I also prefer lip glosses in this packaging. The tubes and squirting never really works. I like controlling my gloss application. It went on in less effort that the tube glosses, which I definitely liked. The second thing I noticed was the scent of the lip gloss. It smelled like sugar cookies! Who doesn’t like sugar cookies?

The sequin saturated shine lip gloss went on nicely, and was super sticky and glittery—the perfect topcoat pink addition to my normal lipstick (and, it even tasted great, but don’t tell anyone!). I would definitely recommend layering it on top of another shade for a longer lasting look. Also in the line of glosses, they have two topcoats that are infused with “mood altering elixirs” that promise to help you “Chill Out” or “Rise and Shine.” This gloss will be perfect for spring and summer!
