La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid Review
0

I am semi-thankful for the hot weather here, so I could have the opportunity to test La Roche Posay’s Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid. The application of this product was different for me because I usually deal with crème or spray sun protection products. As it states in the title of the product, it is a liquid rather than a solid.

When I removed the cap of the Anthelios 60, the application funnel was on the right side -- I always look at the product design before anything else. It seemed odd that it was in the middle of the bottle, but I guess it was just to attract the eye, and it worked! I had plans to go outside all day to hang out with friends, so I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to test the product. The liquid application was odd at first, but when I blended it into my skin, it felt natural. It quickly dried and absorbed some of my face oil. It had a similar smell to most sunscreens. After, I did my makeup routine, and the Roche Posay’s Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid did not conflict with my makeup!

I played in the sun all day with friends, and after the grand adventure we had, I came home without a sunburn on my face -- I was so amazed! This product is long lasting and protected my skin all day. Even though this product may be a little pricey compared to most sunscreens, it is totally worth the buy!

SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50
5

I'm super picky about sunscreen, especially for my face, and this one delivers! I won't leave the house without at least an SPF 30 on my face. My friends sometimes make fun of me, but I will NOT have cancer or wrinkles when I'm older. I've got to protect what I've got!

Needless to say, then, that I've tried a number of sunscreens, most recently a number of mineral sunscreens or physical blockers, whose ingredients sit on your face instead of being absorbed into the skin, polluting the skin with chemicals. Most work, but leave a heavy white residue. It's okay if I'm putting makeup over it, but when I'm headed outdoors for a run or beach volleyball, it's highly unattractive when I start sweating in the Texas sun.

Not only does SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50 use physical blocking agents instead of chemicals, but it's silky smooth going on, mattifying, and totally transparent. It's paraben-free, and includes broad-spectrum, physical filters zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, and is enhanced by artemia salina, a plankton extract, to increase the skin’s defenses and resistance to UV and heat stress.

Perfect for every day use! And trust me, I use it every day!

Product Review: Burt's Bees Chemical-Free Sunscreen SPF 30
4.333335

I started using Burt's Bees Chemical-Free Sunscreen SPF 30 a few summers ago, the summer I like to call my summer of volleyball. I'd stay outside from 9am to 5pm, playing sand volleyball pickup games. Sure, we'd take a lunch break or sit out a few games in the shade, but I was fully exposed to the sun's rays in a Texas summer for many hours a day. Going without sunscreen is never an option.

It was around the same time I started learning all about physical barrier sunscreens versus chemical ones, and I decided that I needed to use a physical barrier sunscreen--that's the kind where zinc sits on your skin rather than being absorbed. The downside? The white residue. After trying some serious duds (how awkward is white sweat rolling down your body?), I tried the Burt's Bees Chemical-Free Sunscreen SPF 30.

Pros: It stays on through hours of beach volleyball and doesn't have bad chemicals to seep into my skin. I did reapply, but I also never got sunburned.

Cons: It's thick and leaves a little bit of a white residue, but not nearly as bad as most other brands.

Bottom line: I'd say that the Burt's Bees Chemical-Free Sunscreen SPF 30 is a great all-natural choice and probably the cheapest you're going to find without chemicals, at $15 for 3.5 ounces. Honestly, I prefer the SkinCeuticals SPF 50 for daily use on my face, but I'm not going to spend $50 to cover my body in it. For that, there's Burt's Bees!
